Set-up time greatly affects the product cost. Improvement made to our set-ups will improve performance, costs and revenue.
Several opportunities for improvement can be made to improve on set-up times and/or efficiency. Costs for the time spent setting up jobs greatly affects the overall cost of the part. More efficient change over of setups, improved methods and standardization practices should be made to provide proper work flow and improved cost. Setups should be done quickly and accurately and provide an adequate first piece yield, by all set-up operators.

Improvements and Control Measures: February 20th
Some of the opportunities for improvement and goals from last year included:
Out of tolerance conditions after plating creates added costs for rework and delay in shipment to our customers
To reduce hours spent reworking out of tolerance conditions due to plate.
Plan In Place to Reduce Plating Rejections by 50%, in turn, reducing rework hours.
Hours spent due to required plating rework adds costs to several orders and delays production on the order being reworked and other jobs from being accomplished. Reduction of plating rework will reduce costs and improve flow of operations, improving deliveries.
Extends from programing to machining practices, Plate requirements, Inspection and secondary dept.
