Project Description: 

Set-up time greatly affects the product cost.  Improvement made to our set-ups will improve performance, costs and revenue.

Project objectives:

Several opportunities for improvement can be made to improve on set-up times and/or efficiency.  Costs for the time spent setting up jobs greatly affects the overall cost of the part.  More efficient change over of setups, improved methods and standardization practices should be made to provide proper work flow and improved cost. Setups should be done quickly and accurately and provide an adequate first piece yield, by all set-up operators.

Some of the opportunities for improvement and goals from last year included:
  1. Continual improvement to overall Work Instruction Books
  2. Upgraded maintenance schedule has been added to our cleaning systems and to reviewing viscosity levels at each of the machines
  3. Continuing to become proficient with the lab equipment in the inspection area.
  4. Layered Process Audits that will help us catch problems more quickly and deal with them more efficiently and effectively.
  5. The introduction of Keyence measuring system
  6. Weekly focus meetings on job scheduling to include rate changes that have been made throughout the year
