CNC Milling
SWISS

Hanel Corporation began to move to a horseshoe-shaped arrangement of production cells in 1996. Each manufacturing cell follows a basic U shape. This way we can avoid the crisscross product flow of parts, common for traditional manufacturing. Manufacturing cells allow parts to flow from process to process, with one part moving from machine to machine with no batching in between.
"Arranging equipment and workstations in process sequence to support smooth flow of materials and components with minimal transport or delay"
Mark Strehlow, CEO
Engineered to replace the cam operated machines, the KMX first is designed to allow for astonishing tool accessibility providing extremely quick set up times. These Swiss-style machines offer clever solutions including live tooling and is ideally suited for close tolerance components.
All Swiss machines are operated in manufacturing cells along with 5 Axis Robo Drills, Omni Turns and Etching machines.
The sliding headstock machine offers clever solutions including live tooling and is ideally suited for close tolerance jobs. Turning operations are also done on GT 75 from Omni Turn (Farmingdale, NY). Additional O.D operations, I.D, face and cut off ends are performed on this machine. This machine is mounted on a wheeled platform, so an additional or alternative machine could be incorporated into the manufacturing cell.
The flexibility of these transportable machines creates numerous options for leveling the flow through turning operations.
2-4 AXIS TURNING
The largest of our 2 axis turning centers can handle up to 3.5” diameter through the spindle, and 12” chucking capacity with 48” travel. This machine has 35 HP motor and includes:

Grinding

Many times our customers are looking for a diametrical clearance of 50 millionths of an inch (0.000050”) and an extremely fine surface finish like Ra 8 or less. Most of times directional valves are used under pressure ranging from 2,000 to 25,000 psi. For this reason, parts such as hydraulic valve spools must be rough ground, hard chrome plated and finish ground after the upstream machining steps are completed.
We are capable of centerless grinding spool valve parts with 60 millionths of an inch (0.000060”) total tolerance on O.D. Circularity and cylindricity is also very crucial requirement and are trying to stay within 50 millionths or less in circularity, yet we are getting readings of 25-30 millionths on a regular basis.
